The Lord's Prayer – what do we really mean?
The Lords Prayer
All. Our Father who art in heaven.
C. Don’t say ‘Father’ if you do not behave like a son or daughter. Don’t say ‘Our’ if you only think of your self.
All. Hallowed by thy name
C. Don’t say ‘Hallowed’ if you do not honour that name.
All. Thy Kingdom come
C. Don’t say ‘Thy Kingdom come’ if you are weighed down with material goods
All. Thy will be done
C. Don’t say ‘Thy will be done’ if you do not accept the hard bits
All. On earth as it is in heaven
C. Don’t say ‘as it is in heaven’ if you only think about earthly matters
All. Give us this day our daily bread
C. Don’t say ’Our daily bread’ if you have no concern for the hungry or the homeless
All. Forgive us as we forgive those who trespass against us
C. Don’t say ‘Forgive us our trespasses’ if you remain angry with someone
All. Lead us not into temptation
