This is the book I use to help those who have been damaged by fundamentalism. It is a small but very clear book about the (flimsy) case for Biblical inerrency and why we as Christians should take our Scriptures seriously, but not unthinkingly.
Synopisis:
This text is designed for those who feel uncertain and discouraged in the face of the confidence of fundamentalist tendencies. The lectures here are written with an emphasis on Christian truth and a Christian way of life.
John Barton was from 1991 to 2014 Oriel & Laing Professor of the Interpretation of Holy Scripture, University of Oxford, and a Fellow of Oriel College. Since retiring in 2014 he has been a Senior Research Fellow at Campion Hall, a Jesuit college in Oxford.
