Liturgy: Ordinary 5, Year A
Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year A
In the name of the +Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Grace, mercy and peace from God Our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit be with you all
and also with you
Come, let us worship the Lord. Let us bow down in the presence of our maker, for he is the Lord our God. (Psalm 95:6-7)
My dear friends in Christ, we come together this morning to meet with the risen Lord in word and sacrament. A warm welcome to you all.
Today we hear yet more about our calling as Christians: to be a light to the world, a beacon of hope and inspiration and the saltiness of the earth, grist in the mill, challenging, providing colour and texture and taste in a world that is so often force to be satisfied with blandness…
Christ is the spice of our lives and so as we gather to pray for the life, work and lively witness of this parish, so we pray that our lives may part of God’s enlivening and enriching of the whole world.
And so, as we come to encounter God in his hold and sacred mysteries, let us prepare ourselves by calling to mind our sins…
The Collect
Let us pray
Father,
watch over your family
and keep us safe in your care,
for all our hope is in you.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
All Amen.
Alleluia
Alleluia, alleluia.
I am the light of the world, says the Lord; whoever follows me will have the light of life.
All Alleluia.
The Peace
Christ is our peace. He has reconciled us to God in one body by the Cross. We meet in his name and we share his peace.
The peace of the Lord be always with you
and also with you
Prayer after Communion
God our Father,
you gave us a share in the one bread and the one cup
and make us one in Christ.
Help us to bring your salvation and joy
to all the world
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Amen
