Liturgy: Christmas 2, Year A
Christmas 2, Year A
In the name of the +Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Grace, mercy and peace from God Our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit be with you all
and also with you
My dear friends in Christ on this Second Sunday of the Christmastide, we come together to offer this holy sacrifice to Almighty God our heavenly father and to celebrate Christ, the incarnate wisdom of God, who has come to dwell in our midst.
We pray with special intention today for the life, work and witness of the parish, and pray also for all those affected by the Tsunami in South East Asia – for which we are holding a special retiring collection today. Please be as generous as you can.
As we prepare for great things in this parish, with the commencement of the building work, and come together in awe and worship to celebrate these sacred mysteries, we become ever more aware of our sinful failings…
Hear the words of the angel to Joseph:
‘You shall call his name Jesus,
for he will save his people from their sins.’
Therefore let us seek the forgiveness of God
through Jesus the Saviour of the world.
I confess…
The Collect
Let us pray
God of Power and life,
glory of all who believe in you,
fill the world with your splendour
and show the nations the light of your truth.
We make our prayer through Jesus Christ, our Lord
who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit
one God, for ever and ever.
All Amen.
Alleluia
Alleluia, alleluia.
Glory be to you, O Christ, proclaimed to the pagans
Glory be to you, O Christ, believed in by the world.
All Alleluia.
The Peace
Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given,
and his name shall be called the Prince of Peace.
The peace of the Lord be always with you
and also with you
Prayer after Communion
Lord, hear our prayers.
By this Eucharist free us from Sin
and keep us faithful to your word.
We ask this in the name of Jesus, the Lord.
