Liturgy: Advent 3, Year A

Posted on December 4, 2010 By spr No Comments on Liturgy: Advent 3, Year A

Advent 3

In the name of the +Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

Grace, mercy and peace from God Our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit be with you all

and also with you

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, rejoice! The Lord is near. (Philippians 4:4-5)

My dear friends in Christ, we gather round this Holy Altar offering this Holy Sacrifice to Almighty God, Our Heavenly Father, on this Third Sunday of Advent.

We pray with special intention for the life, work and witness of the parish, and that our Advent Preparations will find us ready to greet the Lord when he comes.

<Advent Wreath>

Invitation to confession

When the Lord comes,

he will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness,

and will disclose the purposes of the heart.

Therefore in the light of Christ let us confess our sins.

The Collect

Let us pray

Lord God,
may we, your people,
who look forward to the birthday of Christ
experience the joy of salvation
and celebrate that feast with love and thanksgiving.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

All    Amen.

Alleluia

Alleluia, alleluia.

The Spirit of the Lord has been given to me. He has sent me to bring good news to the poor

All    Alleluia.

The Peace

In the tender mercy of our God,
the dayspring from on high shall break upon us,
to give light to those who dwell in darkness
and in the shadow of death
and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

The peace of the Lord be always with you

and also with you

Prayer after Communion

God of mercy,
may this eucharist bring us your divine help,
free us from our sins,
and prepare us for the birthday of our Savior,
who is Lord for ever and ever. Amen.

Notices

Blessing

Christ the Sun of Righteousness shine upon you,
scatter the darkness from before your path,
and make you ready to meet him when he comes in glory;
and the blessing of God almighty,

the +Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,

be among you and remain with you always.

All    Amen.

The mass is ended. Go in the peace of Christ.

All    Thanks be to God.
