Gloria

Posted on October 3, 2008 By spr No Comments on Gloria

To the tune of Woodlands by Walter Greatorix (1877-1949), perhaps best set to +Timothy Dudley-Smith’s Tell Out My Soul.

Glory to God, we give you thanks and praise
Of heavenly joy and earthly peace we sing
We worship you, to you our hearts we raise
Lord God, Almighty Father, heavenly King

Lord Jesus Christ, the father’s only Son,
You bore for us the load of this world’s sin
O Lamb of God, your glorious victory won
Receive our prayer, grant us your peace within

Alone, O Christ, you are the only Lord
At God’s right hand, in majesty most high
Who with the Spirit, worshiped and adored
With all the heavenly host, we glorify.

(Author unknown)

Encountered this at Fr. Phil Ritchie’s induction as the Priest in Charge of All Saints, Hove. Lovely Mass with +Lindsay, beautiful church, met lots of friends and made some new. There was a bit of a Mirfield Cell gathering: Fr. Toby, Fr. Phil (obviously), Fr. Jonathon Swindells, Fr. Kit Lindlar and myself. I think that’s all of the South Coast Mirfield boys from my time. It was lovely, and the seldom seen opportunity to catch me (yes, me) in Surplice, Scarf and Hood. (You might need a sit down after that thought).
